Tyr3D is a 3D printing, scanning, modelling and design business based in the Northwest of Ireland. We have extensive experience in producing high quality 3D printed objects from either real scans or uploaded 3D files of many types. Along with our background in sustainable construction, industrial and creative design, we can either take your 3D files and ensure they will print correctly or assist you in bringing your ideas to life from initial conception all the way through to a final print.
The technologies we utilise allow us to create a real 3D model of your prototype. Be it a part replica, scaled model, or even a scan and print of yourself. The only limitation on what can be done is your imagination! We consider ourselves a "can do" company, and will work with you through the whole process, from initial concept, design, all the way to prototypes and pre-production. Our goal is to work with you so that your product is delivered on time and meets your requirements.

We operate multiple types of printers, specialized to handle different kinds of materials, characteristics to tolerances of 10 microns (half the thickness of a human hair), and quality requirements to best meet our clients' needs. An overview of which are:
Fused filament fabrication(FFF)/Fused deposition modelling(FDM) consists of building up your 3D printed part in layers. A variety of common plastics, with different properties (e.g. flexibility, rigidity, heat resistance), can be printed. These include ABS, PETG, PLA, Nylon, Carbon fiber reinforced, Polycarbonate, and Polypropylene to name a few. A good overview guide of different materials used in 3D printing can be found here.
Stereolithography (SLA) and Digital Light Processing (DLP) 3D printing technologies work in similar ways, in that they apply a light source to a photoreactive liquid resin in order to turn it into a solid object one layer at a time. Different kinds of resins are available. For general printing, as well as those with low viscosity qualities, used for highly detailed prints, along with those that provide varying degrees of strength and elasticity characteristics in the final printed parts that can be produced.
We actively research and develop methods for printing with high end plastics intended to be used in industrial and engineering settings. For example, we are considered one of the leaders at printing with Polyether ether ketone (PEEK), which is known for its robustness in demanding applications.
Our 3D scanning system delivers accuracy of 0.09mm. It is a non-contact system, mobile, with no pre-set size limits. Comprising of an all new electro-optical architecture, using an array of lasers to scan in parallel, allows for higher point throughput and data fidelity in the scans taken.
High speed photography in conjunction with photogrammetric analysis can be used to construct 3D models of physical objects. We are licensed drone operators enabling us to construct 3D models of large and inaccessible areas.
Need to convert or upgrade your models to the latest formats, from 2D to 3D, or switch between units of measure (e.g. imperial to metric). We perform extensive verification of the updated models and work with our clients to validate that the final version meets their requirements.
Have a vision of something you would like to create, we can help with our 3D design services. This includes 3D renders or animations of the conceptual product or its packaging. These visualisations can be produced from hand drawn sketches or 2D drawings provided by the client. We have found that iteratively developing these early mock ups with our clients helps to enhance the communciation and decision making process. Assisting in areas such as project funding and maximizing marketing opportunities. 3D product design is a time and cost saving service for all product designers, manufacturers, and graphic designers.
